How to Get Guests Dancing At a Wedding?

Weddings are an incredible time of love and celebration. What better way to celebrate a beautiful ceremony of promise and commitment than to dance all night with the people that you love. Have you thought about the different ways you can your guests moving on the floor as you have gone through the wedding planning process? Here are a few tips to keep the dance floor pumping

  1. Don’t make a Playlist - Playlists are tempting, I know. If you can’t help yourself, use a playlist for the cocktail hour. When it comes to getting people on the dance floor hire a DJ that can intuitively read a crowd and play music according to the mood at the moment. Even better, switch the mood when needed.

  • Heat up the dance floor - Guests are suckers for dancing with the wedding couple on the dance floor so if you want to have your guests shaking it up you better shake it with them. Don’t disappear for photos or go change into another dress when for way too long. The party starts with you.

  • Allow Song Requests! Sometimes a controversial topic, some couples will ask their DJ beforehand to not play song requests from guests, while other couples do not mind requests being played so long as the guests actually dance to the music. If you're part of the latter, this can be a great way for your crowd to get their dance anthems played and their feet glued to the dance floor.

  • Pick the Right DJ! When it is all said and done, you always want to be sure to pick the right DJ for you. We have an amazing DJ who can read every crowd. I don’t care their background, he can get them up be it Latinas, Russionas, Chinese or be it young or old he knows how to do it. First he tests out songs on our couples play lists. He watches to see if they ignite. If they are still nervous to join the dance floor, he will switch to a different genre. He plays the intro to the chorus and will switch out if the crowd isn’t moving. Once he finds the groove, he will keep the guests dancing the rest of the night. My favorite guy is married to a professional dancer and himself even toured as a dancer so he knows what music will make it too hard for guests to stay in their seats.
